The lighting kit works surprisingly well. It is a very straightforward setup, with the two lighting poles and coordinating white diffusing umbrellas and dark silver reflectors. The kit comes with two large bulbs which give off bright white light. I was a bit skeptical at first, because the stands are pretty thin. But, aside from being a little tough to open, which I am attributing to them being new, they tightened well and were easily adjustable. I'm including photographs that I took using only the light of the kit, no onboard flash. I did this so that you can see what kind of light it puts off and how bright it is. I would absolutely recommend a light meter because you will need to be able to set the kit to your aperture, but other than that, this is a good starter set. I would not recommend taking this outside, or anywhere it make get bumped into because I do think the poles will fall. But that said, this is a decent deal and a good place to start.
