Kids will love it; Parents not so sure
First of all, an important note: The remote control uses four AAA batteries; not AAs like the Amazon description says.My truck-loving kids (ages 4 and 6) received this as a gift from their grandparents.Cons:- It was difficult removing this from its packaging, because the truck was screwed into the box in multiple places, and some of the screws were stripped. It took about 25 minutes and a pair of pliers to get it out of the box.- You'll need to charge the truck battery pack for a few hours (the box says four) before using it, and the battery lasts for about 20 minutes before needing a recharge. You'll probably want to unpack the truck and charge the batteries before giving it to the recipient, unless your child is very patient and willing to wait hours to play with it. Also, make sure you have four AAA batteries on hand for the controller, as they're not included.- The sound effects that the remote control makes are relatively loud and incessant. There is a mute button, but when my kids play with it, it never stays muted for long. I wish the mute control were a hidden switch so it wouldn't be so easy for the kids to unmute it.- This truck is fast and powerful when fully charged, and because of the way the joystick operates, it's easy to accidentally ram it into walls, furniture, people, or anything else in the vicinity when you're learning how the controller works. For now, we're having our kids play with it inside a big cardboard box, to prevent it from damaging its surroundings, but I think it will become an outside toy soon. This is mostly a problem with my 4-year-old, and the age specified on the box is 6 years and up, so this may not be an issue with older kids.Pros:- Your kids will think this truck is awesome, because it is pretty awesome. It's big, it's loud, it has flashing lights, and the dumper goes up and down. What more could a truck-loving child ask for?
